Andy Purdon

Managing Director

Andy has over 20 years human resource and management experience gained during a career spanning roles within British Telecom and Azzurri Scotland.

As a licensed Innermetrix practitioner Andy specialises in Management Consultancy with our client base. Andy has a proven track record working with clients to deliver value within their business. An excellent communicator with a passion to help clients achieve their end goal.

In his spare time Andy is a keen football fan and also plays squash and golf. Andy has recently joined the Board at his local Church of Scotland.

Karen Purdon

Finance Director

Karen has a master’s degree in Mathematics and Statistics and is a qualified FCCA.

Having worked in London & various locations worldwide she has over 20 years’ experience in Finance, specialising in Corporate Finance, where she worked with both Private Companies & regional Governments. Karen prides herself on her attention to detail, logical and methodical approach to all projects and is always willing to assist clients by offering appropriate solutions to all of their queries. Karen has also obtained her NEBOSH qualification.

In her spare time, Karen is a Trustee for Beagle Welfare, enjoys gardening and long country or beach walks with her 2 beagles Daisy & Quaver.

Samantha Davidson

Commercial Director

Heading up our Commercial Department, Samantha leads in supporting organisations through ISO and BRC certification. Samantha is a member of the Chartered Quality Institute, a listed member of the International Register of Chartered Auditors, an Associate Consultant Member for BSI Group and has over twenty years’ experience in quality, operations and finance across various sectors.

Having supported many businesses through certification against various standards, Samantha offers a wealth of knowledge in the requirements and application of the standards, best practices and performance optimisation and delivers bespoke management systems to meet the specific needs of our clients.

In her spare time, Samantha enjoys reading, music and spending time with family and friends.

Scott Gingell

HR Projects Manager

As a chartered member of the CIPD and a qualified Prince 2 Practitioner, Scott has 30 years of HR experience working for a broad range of organisations, including Sky, Heathrow Airport, Ofgem and Sureserve Energy Services, as well as local government.

Having worked across all areas of HR, Scott very much believes in doing the right thing and is used to consistently providing a high quality and pragmatic service, evaluating and proposing realistic solutions in order to meet customer needs. Scott has a particular interest in employee relations, policy development and project management. Over the years, he has acquired extensive experience in these areas, amongst many others.

In his spare time, Scott enjoys running and hill walking as well as spending time with friends and is a proud dad to two lovely daughters.

Suzanne Wilson

Senior HR Consultant

Suzanne Wilson is an Associate member of the CIPD, having graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University with an MSc in Human Resource Management. Suzanne has HR administrative experience within the motor industry and recruitment experience within both the motor and finance industry, with a particular focus on customer service and sales roles.

Suzanne takes pride in providing support to all clients, ensuring that all queries and requests are answered in a timely fashion. Suzanne enjoys spending her spare time with her friends and family.

Within her role as Senior HR Consultant at HR Services Scotland Ltd, Suzanne has excellent knowledge and experience in the following areas:

Stacie Bousfield

Stacie Bousfield

Senior HR Consultant

After graduating from the University of Strathclyde and gaining a BA (Hons) Geography and Planning, Stacie moved into HR and Recruitment by gaining a position in Royal Mail Group’s Recruitment and Resourcing Department. 

During her ten years at Royal Mail, Stacie was involved in the day to day recruitment activity and the annual Christmas Recruitment campaign in which over 1000 employees were recruited for each mail centre in Scotland. Stacie became qualified and experienced in the onboarding process of new employees, psychometric testing and interviewing. She also facilitated the Induction Course for new entrant post persons. Stacie particularly enjoyed being involved in socially inclusive partnerships enabling disadvantaged groups to access employment placements within Royal Mail.

After leaving employment at Royal Mail, Stacie was employed for ten years in Sainsbury’s Supermarket, consolidating her customer service skills and working in the HR and Payroll department which further developed her HR knowledge.

In her role as HR Consultant, Stacie enjoys and takes pride in liaising with clients, providing great customer service, dealing with queries and requests promptly and working as part of the HR team within HR Services Scotland Ltd to provide a robust and professional service to our clients.

In her spare time, Stacie enjoys walking her dog, spending time with family and friends and travelling to her home county of Cumbria.

Emma Black

HR Consultant

Emma Black is a CIPD‑qualified HR professional with over ten years’ experience supporting managers, leaders and employees across multi‑site, fast‑paced and highly unionised environments. Emma began her HR career at Webhelp UK before progressing into a range of HR and employee relations roles with City Facilities Management, gaining further experience with organisations including Linde MH UK, Hovis and Tennent’s Caledonia Brewery.

Throughout her career, Emma has developed strong expertise in employee relations, business partnering and organisational change, with extensive experience managing complex disciplinary, grievance, capability and absence matters. She is confident in providing clear, pragmatic and commercially balanced HR advice, supporting managers to make fair, consistent and well‑judged decisions. Emma is also Mental Health First Aid certified and is passionate about promoting positive wellbeing and healthy workplace cultures.

In her role as HR Consultant at HR Services Scotland Ltd, Emma takes pride in building trusted relationships with clients and providing clear, practical HR advice. She is committed to delivering timely, solutions‑focused support and ensuring all queries are handled professionally and efficiently.

In her spare time, Emma enjoys keeping active spending time with friends and family.

Laura Pollock

HR Advisor

Laura Pollock joined the team in October 2025.

She started her career in Recruitment for 3 years which ranged from both internal and agency recruitment over a variety of different sectors such as Engineering, Sales, Customer Service and Administration.

She was given the opportunity to become Office Manager for a large organisation and support the HR team in an advisory role where she studied her CIPD Level 3 course in People Practice.

Laura’s particular interest is employee relations and maintaining excellent client relationships. She takes pride in providing the best service to both clients and her team and ensuring that all enquiries are dealt with quickly and professionally.

In her spare time, Laura enjoys spending time with her family, going on long walks with her dog Arlo and reading.

Emma Wernham

HR Advisor

Emma graduated from the University of Strathclyde in September 2025 with an MSc in Human Resource Management and is an Associate Member of the CIPD. She also holds an undergraduate degree in International Business and Marketing. As an HR Advisor, Emma is committed to supporting clients by delivering an excellent standard of service, responding to queries promptly, and values contributing effectively as part of a strong HR team.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling and Pilates classes.

Tony Russell

Health & Safety Manager

Tony started with HR Services Scotland in January 2013 and has progressed his career and is now our Health and Safety Manager. Tony has achieved an NVQ Level 5 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice and is a Graduate member of Institution of Occupational Safety and Health.

Tony’s role is to work closely with our client base to ensure that health and safety legislation is being followed. Some of Tony’s day to day responsibilities include completing on site health and safety audits, organising health and safety training and developing bespoke health and safety documentation e.g. H&S policies, procedures, risk assessments & method statements etc.

Tony’s experience in a variety of different environments is an asset to HR Services Scotland.

Drew Russell

Senior Health & Safety Consultant

Drew has a wealth of experience across an impressive range of disciplines in business and management in an internationally operating company and his services make a great contribution to the team.

Drew moved into production management and specialised in H&S issues and became Coca Cola’s Health Safety and Environment Manager in 2006.

He has a post-graduate degree from Nottingham H&S College and is a practitioner with the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment. He has also conducted management training on behalf of Coca Cola’s European partners in countries such as Norway, Sweden and the Netherlands.

In his spare time, Drew likes to spend time playing golf – particularly when he beats Tony in a round, or going to the gym.

Martin Miller

Fire Safety Advisor

Martin has over 31 years’ experience with Strathclyde Fire and Rescue. He fulfilled a number of roles including fire safety, community safety training and surveying premises for fire-fighting safety. he is a qualified fire risk assessor and has achieved NEBOSH 1 & 2.

Martin loves football and in his spare time enjoys walking, golf and spending time with his wife and daughter.

Harry Montgomery

Health & Safety Consultant

In a career spanning more than 35 years, Harry has developed a wealth of experience and knowledge in Health and Safety and training delivery. Most of this experience was developed in a multi-national company across their manufacturing and warehousing operations. These skills have developed further most recently in the housing and care provision sector where he was the Safety Advisor for the Scottish region.

In his spare time, Harry enjoys reading and is a keen golfer.

Shirlene Archbold - HRSS

Shirlene Archbold

Finance Assistant

After completing a degree in Chemistry, Shirlene was unable to secure a job within the industry.  Determined to stay in the ‘big city’ (after growing up on the Isle of Bute) she took a job a part time job as a receptionist in a hotel.

Working her way up to Cluster Revenue Manager, she developed her leadership, problem solving and communication skills.  After 20 years within hotels, Shirlene decided to change careers to Finance.

A keen eye for detail, organisational skills, adaptability and love of a good spreadsheet made this the obvious choice.

Shirlene enjoys a good book and chilling with her Labrador Jackson. She still goes back home to Bute to visit friends and family.

Graeme Innes

General Manager

Graeme joined the team in April 2025. A seasoned and adaptable management professional with extensive experience leading teams of all sizes across a variety of operational and leadership roles within retail and Funeralcare.

Graeme has a proven track record of driving performance, streamlining processes, and fostering strong team dynamics in both customer-facing and internal functions.

As General Manager at HR Services Scotland, Graeme is focused on enhancing operational efficiency, supporting client delivery, and contributing to a positive, people-centric workplace culture.

He brings a strong foundation in leadership and team development, along with valuable exposure to HR and compliance practices, making him well-suited to the demands of the industry. Graeme is known for his ability to build cohesive, engaged teams and uphold high standards of professionalism and performance.

Outside of work, he enjoys spending time outdoors, taking long walks with his Beagle, and is a keen follower of both football and golf.

Allan Kay​

Customer Engagement Consultant

Allan Joined the Commercial Team in May 2023 and due to business growth, he was then given the position of Customer Engagement Consultant from February 2024. Allan enjoys helping customers and has an eye for details ensuring that nothing is missed and is always keen to learn. “Every day is a school day”.

Allan loves to spend time with his family and friends and walks with their dog. He is also a keen DJ and has been doing this since school.

Nicola Smith

PA to the Managing Director

Nicola joined the HR Services Scotland Admin Team in May 2023 as an Office Administrator with a background in administration and customer service in the employability and business travel sectors.

Nicola enjoys helping people and would describe herself as positive and motivated.

In her spare time Nicola enjoys spending time with family and friends, travelling and cooking.

Amy Pope

Commercial Consultant

Amy joined our commercial team in July 2025 and delivers internal auditing and consultancy to our commercial client base.

With high governance and attention to detail, Amy is a qualified lead auditor and works with our clients to ensure that their management systems are both compliant and aligned to their operational model.

Outside of work, Amy enjoys spending quality time with loved ones, taking to the field with the Scottish Quadball team, and spending hours rolling dice at Dungeons and Dragons games.
